The Role

Wind Prospect Africa is seeking an enthusiastic, self-starting individual who can undertake project management of wind farm sites throughout South Africa. The role would be to oversee the construction work on behalf of the client to ensure the project is being constructed to the highest possible standards meeting local and international standards.

The applicant would be based in our Cape Town office and will be required to travel to the sites on a regular basis to carry out site meetings and monitor progress. The project manager would be responsible for all aspects of the project and will ensure the project is built on time and on budget.

The Candidate

• Liaise with the Client to prepare project programme and budget.
• Manage external consultants for the preparation of Employers Site Data.
• Liaise with ESKOM with regard to the grid connection process
• Liaise with the Local Authority in order to negotiate the upgrade of public road and compliance.
• Communicate with Project Sponsors, Financial Advisors and Legal Advisors to bring project to financial close.
• Administer the construction contracts fulfilling the role of ‘Engineer’ or ‘Employer’s Representative’.
• Monitor design and construction interfaces between Civil, Electrical and Turbine Contractors.
• Monitor all important stages of construction activity and ensure works are carried out to the required standard.
• Manage the project programme to ensure the works are progressed on schedule and project milestones are achieved.
• Assess interim accounts as required under the construction contracts and negotiate any variations and claims necessary.
• Issue Payment Certificates for milestone payments.
• Deal with all variations/disputes that may arise on site
• Ensure the project is constructed in compliance with the ROD and the EMP
   

   

• Essential – Engineering Degree Qualification (Civil/Structural or Electrical preferred).
• Essential – 10 years construction experience
• Essential –4 years + experience in managing large construction contracts
• Desirable – Previous experience in wind energy
   

The Salary

Negotiable - commensurate with experience
