Directors Seek Eco-Returns
The standard directors’ response against any action on climate change has always been against the unproven return on investment.
This fact was underlined in a recent survey amongst 50 of the UK’s largest companies by Verdantix* which revealed that current thinking on climate change still has a long way to go to become aligned with boardroom strategy.

With Wind Direct’s no risk route however, directors are steadily coming round to the fact that being green is no longer the preserve of The Body Shop and Friends of the Earth. The environment is pushing CSR off the agenda and replacing it with a more forthright CR that has a positive impact on the bottom line.
This new CR is affecting all areas of business, from operations through to finance and IT, as companies seek to lower energy consumption and CO2 output. This approach is evident in the Verdantix survey which found that a quarter of firms will have a dedicated climate change manager during 2008 and many will have some form of multi-departmental climate change team.
For those businesses fortunate enough to have the space and the wind, the job of the eco-team could already be partway to completion. With Verdantix also finding that building design firms, environmental consultants and technology suppliers will play a significant role in climate change initiatives during 2008, Wind Direct can provide a welcome short cut to success in such a complex jigsaw. *Graph Source: Verdantix Climate Change Leaders Survey 2008 |
