About Border Precision

Border Precision is a leading precision engineering contract manufacturer based in Kelso in the Scottish borders, employing 180 people on an 80,000 sq ft site.

The company offers a full range of bespoke Precision Pressings including tool design and manufacture, laser and punch presses as well as multi axis press brakes. In addition they have in-house, the very latest CNC milling and turning technology and have an ongoing program of Investment in state of the art manufacturing technology.

The company already operates as a responsible business, using its own bore holes for its water supplies and in 1998 became the first engineering company in Scotland to achieve Euro ISO 14001 grading for its international environment strategy.
 

About the Project

The project is located over 300m from the nearest residences in a semi rural location on the outskirts of Kelso and about 0.6km north of the river Tweed, famous for its salmon fishing. It has been granted planning permission for a single 70m high wind turbine by the Scottish Borders Council planning department.

Commenting about the Wind Direct project in the Southern Reporter newspaper, Gordon Fletcher from Border Precision said: “We have been looking at this [wind project] for about a year. It will help cut our costs and also reduce our carbon footprint.”
