About Skeddoway Farm

Skeddoway Farm is a family run local business.

The farm employs up to 20 local people during peak times (3 months of the year), around half a dozen of which work all year round.

The business is a member of Nature’s Choice. This standard recognises producers that use good agricultural practices and operate in an environmentally responsible way with proper regard for the health and well being of their staff.

Skeddoway Farm contributes approximately £500,000 annually to the local economy through use of local services and through labour costs.

About the Project

The site would consist of one 1.5 megawatt turbine, with a tower height of 71.5 metres and rotor diameter of approximately 77 metres.

These dimensions will provide a maximum height to blade tip of 110 metres. This turbine type was chosen with due regard to local constraints and to match the wind climate of the area.

Project Status

The project was granted conditional planning consent subject to legal agreements in January 2012.

Further details of the proposed development are available on the project's dedicated website www.skeddowayfarmturbine.co.uk
